Getting Around Delhi: No Longer a Painful Experience

Traveling within the National Capital Territory of Delhi is not a painful experience anymore. The transportation system in the city has gone a sea change from what it used to be a few years ago. It is the drastic improvement in infrastructure that has made this change possible. With flyovers at all major crossroads, Delhi seems to have won the first battle towards ensuring smooth traffic.

The emergence of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has opened a fresh new way for traveling and commuting within the city. Delhi is the first city in India that has seen such a strong presence of Metro trains for almost every major route. It soon became a popular means of transport for office goers and other people who need to go to their workplace every day. The IGI airport, which is where flights to Delhi with Hoodaki travel agency from London land, is connected to the main railway station of the city by a special Airport Express line.

Delhi Metro has changed the way people used to commute within the capital region. It is the fastest among all the modes of transportation available in Delhi. There is no traffic issue as well. As more and more people prefer to travel by metro train, the load on the road traffic has started to ease off. Even people who have their own vehicle now use the train to cut down on the travel time as well as on the fuel cost.

Another landmark event that has helped shape the modern transport infrastructure in Delhi is the arrival of DTC buses in a new avatar. DTC is an acronym for the Delhi Transport Corporation, which operates the world’s largest fleet of CNG-powered buses. All privately operated buses, which were painted in blue, have now been replaced by low floor buses of the state-owned DTC. These buses are equipped with features that ensure a safe and hassle-free ride on Delhi roads.

Most major areas of the National Capital Territory lie on two circular roads known as inner and outer ring roads. Not counting rush hours, these roads are generally free from traffic congestion due to the presence of many flyovers along the way. As a result, it is not difficult to move from one corner of the city to another no matter whether you travel by a DTC bus or a car. To travel small distances or within a locality, hiring an auto rickshaw or a cycle rickshaw is usually the choice.
